THE WEEK according to Pressgang

Around the world

The past week has had a real international flavour at Pressgang (quite aside from the Italian ice cream parlour that has just opened temptingly close to our office).

For client Rolls-Royce we have produced a series of digital HR guides translated into five languages.

Editor Alan Ratcliffe has been on the line to Africa, Australia and South America chasing stories for the G4S global marketing team.

And Lisa Higginson, our Interserve editor, is covering a unique ‘day in the life scheme’ suggested by a site worker in Oman, in which senior managers stay overnight in employee accommodation before spending a day working as labourers.

Image of the week

SISTER ACT: Clare Bruce took this wonderful shot that perfectly illustrates a story about G4S employee Jodie Venners whose painful stem cell donation saved the life of her sister Jade.

Story of the week

The G4S custody nurse who answered an SOS and delivered a baby on the back seat of a car after a woman went into premature labour. “I felt quite humbled and privileged to be involved in bringing a new life into the world,” she told The Link.

Headline of the week

Ouch! This was the headline above a story about client Saint-Gobain’s glass manufacturing company winning a major industry honour. Pressgang’s Steve Turner is the guilty party.

Stat of the week

Digital magazine subscriptions account for 1.8 per cent of the combined print and digital sales – 781,000 out of 44million (Press Gazette)

And finally . . .

Chocolate gelato, anyone?
